At the original Eskandalo, Weezer came in and did an impromptu photo shoot in the salon for Blender magazine. In the frame were 2 Brian Wilson posters, which my friend Mark London had designed and given to the salon as gifts. This website http://mattbrundage.com/music/weezer-beach-boys-similarities/ made a connection to Weezer and Brian Wilson, using the image from Eskandalo as the thumbnail for the article. Cool huh?? Note the Joe Rich poster in the background which now resides in our bathroom here in B-town

Hi all! The time has come… I have put in over 15 years behind the chair, worked at salons in 4 different states, and couldn’t be happier! I own a fantastic salon now, staffed with highly competent hairstylists, all of whom work extremely hard to make you look as good as possible! I will now be freed up for more education to get the new people on board and keep everyone updated- this field is all about learning and growing. I am MORE than happy to place all of my clients with the appropriate stylist that I feel best suits your needs. Please email me so I can help you with that! I will still be at the shop all the time too, so if anyone has any questions, I am there to help! We at Eskandalo all appreciate your business more than you know and everyone is really looking forward to seeing our 2 year anniversary coming up! I hope you all understand that this move is for the benefit of everyone so I can be able to open a second and possibly third shop in the semi-near future. We are moving fast and I gotta be able to keep up! Thank you so much for your support!
Sincerely, Alison Leigh
p.s. If you have an existing appointment, it still stands of course
I also didn’t mention my wrist pain because you all know about that. It is a factor in this decision, but not the only one- just to clarify. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
Bee has gotten her cosmetology license and is doing her thing– this is what it looks like!

- 12 noon on a Sunday

- A couple hours later
Our newest assistant/ receptionist Gavin, before and after Bee’s services:

What a difference– but not too crazy!

Call in and ask for Bee! Totally affordable, fun extensions! Come in for a consultation!
The building that houses Eskandalo and Homebase is incredibly impressive. Built in the 1850s, it sat and wasn’t much of anything, at least not in our generation. For a little perspective, that was before Lincoln was president, Los Angeles had just become a city, and the average automobile was about 50 years away– that’s long time ago people…. Well, finding this space was quite the experience. I found it and it looked like this:
Before~

What a beaut! It was seriously love at first sight. I knew once it was finished being worked on it would be amazing and right I was! Here are some more photos of the evolution:
Natural exposed brick– I wanted it so badly and I got it. Yay me!

The back room– hard to believe huh? There was no roof for awhile so it rained and snowed indoors all winter….

-Still months from completion, but what a difference!!
Now! How beautiful…

The back room now!~

Come see the rest!
